For years the Cicada lives hidden beneath the earth, quietly growing among the roots of ancient trees before emerging into the sunlight at precisely the right moment. Its familiar summer chorus fills Appalachian forests with a sound that has echoed through the mountains for countless generations. Though its time above ground is brief, every stage of its remarkable life serves a purpose, reminding us that nature follows rhythms far older and wiser than our own sense of urgency.
As a symbol, the Cicada represents transformation, patience, renewal, and divine timing. It teaches that the most meaningful growth often happens where no one else can see it. Beneath the surface, unseen seasons of learning, healing, and preparation are quietly shaping the person you are becoming. What appears to be stillness is often the beginning of profound change.
When the Cicada appears, it encourages you to trust the unfolding of your own journey. There is no need to compare your timeline with anyone else’s, for every life blossoms according to its own season. If you have been waiting, preparing, or wondering whether your moment will ever arrive, the Cicada offers reassurance that nothing has been wasted. When the time is right, step forward with confidence, knowing that every hidden season has prepared you for the one now beginning.
